The shawl is worked top-down and is a one-piece, asymmetrical knit. I used the shawl’s border instruction to make it into a scarf. I find that using one, light colour yarn will show off the 24-stitch pattern on the shawl body to the border; a continuity of the pattern. Gauge is unimportant.

Measurements
Shawl – 60” top edge x 18” top to bottom
Scarf – 66” x 6” x 88” (bottom edge)
