A favourite toy from childhood; a soft, fuzzy baby snowy owl toy with the biggest eyes was the inspiration for this toddler Cowichan styled sweater and toque. OokPik is the Inuit name for the snowy owl.

The OOkPik figure on the sweater is created with a combination of intarsia and Cowichan stranding; the toque with stranding alone. The tufts of “feathers” are knotted onto the sweater and toque after they are knit.

The Sweater pattern also includes a matching cap.

The size 2 sweater needs about 165 yds of the main colour - just over one wheel of the Briggs country Roving.

Samples shown were knit with the Prairie Sea Fusion.
