This cowl incorporates two different stitch patterns, mimicking the feathers of an owl as it drapes and softly fans out. The pattern works equally well with solids, tonals, variegates, and gradients.

Finished size: approximately 22” in circumference x 12” deep (56 x 30 cm).

Materials:
• Fingering weight yarn, approximately 300 yds, 275 m
Purple Cowl: A Hundred Ravens yarn gradient set (5 of 7 mini skeins used)
Green Cowl: Malabrigo Finito
• US Size 6 (4.0 mm) 16-20” (40-51 cm) circular needle (or size needed to obtain gauge) A pointier tipped needle is helpful for the decreases in the edging section.
• US Size 5 (3.75 mm) 16-20” (40-51 cm) circular needle (or one size smaller than gauge needle)
• Stitch markers
• Tapestry needle

Gauge: 24 stitches = 4” (10 cm) in stockinette before blocking on larger needle, 22 sts = 4” after blocking
