Get some spring into your life with this feminine sweater!
Picking flowers is inspired by spring. How we can long for that first spring day, the blooming trees and bushes, the smell of first mowed grass after that long winter, the warm sunlight on your cheeks, the true start of a new year! I tried to capture that feeling into this sweater design. We can go pick flowers together!

This is also the first design as part of my new collection (in progress) called the ‘poetry collection’. All designs in the poetry collection are inspired on nature and my own surroundings.

Signature for the poetry collection is that each pattern is accompanied by a poem. This poem will get you into spring mode and hopefully gets your creative juices flowing!

This pattern consists of

• Written instructions (US terms)
• schematics to check where to start each new part
• stitch counts for every row, even if they are repeated, so you will always know if you’re doing it right. No more frogging!
• a chart for the flower strips
• a photo-tutorial for the cuffs, hem and neckband
• a poem to ignite your spring feeling

Used techniques

• standard stitches (US terms): slip stitches, single crochet, chains, half double crochet, double crochet, treble
• special stitches: front post dc and tr, double crochet clusters
• joining motifs together as you go (this will be explained with text and the chart)

Sweater fit

• The sleeves are designed with a little negative ease so it will fit snugly around your arms. They are designed to have a lot of stretch in the flower strips and stitch pattern. The armhole should fit your upper arm, so the shoulder is lowered to accommodate that.
• The body has a lot of stretch because of the used stitch pattern and is wider than your bust.
• The stitch pattern and the fine yarn makes for awesome drape and looks like it’s knitted
• The wide neckline is lowered at the front and back, for a feminine look.
• The model in the picture has size S/M and is wearing an M size sweater.

Yarn requirements

• It is made with light fingering merino/silk yarn (Wol met Verve Silk Sock in ‘After eight candy’ and ‘Rocky mountain’, 420m/100g) and uses a 2 mm (B/1) and 3,5 mm (E/4) hook.
• For the main color you will need approx. :

XS, (S, M, L, XL), 3, (3, 3, 4, 4) skeins:
215g/903m, (255g/1071m, 285g/1197m, 320g/1344m, 385g/1617m)

7.6 oz/987 yd, (9 oz/1171 yd, 10 oz/1309 yd, 11.3 oz/1469 yd, 13.6 oz/1768 yd)

• For the contrasting color you will need approx. :

XS, (S, M, L, XL), 1 skein:
35g/147m, (40g/168m, 40g/168m, 40g/168m, 45g/189m)

1.2 oz/160 yd, (1.4 oz/183 yd, 1.4 oz/183 yd, 1.4 oz/183 yd, 1.6 oz/206 yd)

• You can use other fibres that have stretch in them, like all types of wool or silk or fibre blends. You can also make this sweater in acrylic, but it is my experience that it will not block well, so you need to make sure that your unblocked gauge is the same as the blocked gauge (given in the pattern). This way you don’t need to stretch your work.
