17 stitches worked into a beginning chain to make a circle, 6 loops for the second round, then simple stitches with a picot to make this charming motif, which can be joined together using my tutorial on this page, employing a “join as you go” technique which results in closely fitting motifs surrounded by their picturesque picots!

My photo tutorial shows you exactly how to make your motif - or you can simply use the written pattern. Instructions given in US and UK terms.

This motif can be worked in thread, as I initially crocheted it, resulting in a very pretty little piece, which you could pop on a headband or bag. Sew a button into the middle for interest, and/or add beads to the picots to jazz it all up.

Or go for a heavier weight yarn to create a larger motif suitable for a coaster or dainty scrubbie!

The joined motifs could be used for a pillow case, table mat, or a cute little blanket or throw.
