Pine Hill is all-garter, nonstranded colorwork pattern. You can knit a scarf (2-repeats wide), or a wrap (3-4 repeats wide).
This project was initially meant to be material - driven; no matter how much/little yarn you have in how many colors, you can make it all work, and use it all up.
There are many ways to knit it: most obvious is to repeat the same pattern on both ends (or…. knit the other end with the same pattern, but flip MC and CC, why not?). But because it was so obvious, I made the prototype differently. Depending on the number of colors and amount of yarn, you can knit the other side with any striping pattern. The PDF describes exactly what I did, but that’s just one of many other possibilities available.
For the 3-repeat wide and 170cm long wrap, I used about 120g / 500m of fingering-weight yarn. Roughly the half of that amount was for MC, and the other half - for all other colors (I used six).
With US size 6 needles, one ‘tree’ repeat is about 10X10 cm unstretched and unblocked.
