This pattern was designed for Super Sock ScareFest 2014. It is based on the character Pinhead from the Clive Barker film Hellraiser. This design is inspired by the grid pattern, and pins carved into his head. The pins are small bobble-like stitches. There is also the optional feature of a decorative strap at the cuff inspired by the strips of flayed skin in his costume.

The pattern covers three sizes. The leg and foot length can be varied as required. The socks are knit toe-up with a short row heel that also incorporates a mini flap and gusset that will accommodate a deeper heel. The heel does not require any stitches to be picked up, and it uses a short-row technique that does not require any stitches to be wrapped.

Any fingering weight sock yarn may be used, but a tonal or semi-solid is recommended in order not to lose the lose the detail of the patterning amongst variegated colours.
