This pouch is crocheted using plarn, also known as “plastic yarn,” which you can make by cutting up plastic grocery bags.

Please Note: I put this pattern in the “money purse” category because that seemed to be the closest fit. However, if you’re actually going to put money in this pouch, I’d recommend giving it a lining, just to be on the safe side. I think it’s actually better for use as a small cosmetics bag (think nail polish, small eye shadow compacts, feminine hygiene products); it could also hold grocery coupons, cat toys or random small craft supplies.

If you don’t know how to sew a lining for a pouch, you can check out this free pouch pattern that includes a step-by-step tutorial for making the lining; you have to scroll down the page towards the end to find the lining instructions.

I hope you’ll enjoy the free pattern. Thanks for your interest!
