Inspired by a slightly lesser known fauna native of Australia, the Platypus. Made to be machine washable, this blanket can be used over your little one during the colder months, and underneath them as extra cushioning during the summer.

The middle section of the blanket has been left blank to allow for the addition of the baby’s name and date of birth, once he/she arrives (if you so desire). The blanket is slightly smaller than your average baby blanket, making it perfect for the crib, the stroller and car seat.

This blanket can be done using either intarsia or stranded color work techniques. For those new to color work, I have included links to both stranded color work and intarsia tutorials at the end of this pattern.

The chart of the body of the blanket is in a separate and included document. Charts of both the whole blanket and the individual Platypi have been included in this document. I suggest taking the large chart to your local copying/printing store have it blown up as big as their copiers will allow. This will give you a chart that is easier to read.
