Gauge is not entirely important considering you decide in the end what your blanket width is going to be.

I used Yarn Bee Soft Secrets for mine but I recommend using a yarn that is not as “slippery” when changing colors. Soft Secrets is too glossy and you will have to secure the color joining more than if using a slightly coarser yarn.

Your product’s stitches will be incredibly loose if you use the hook and yarn weight I have given, but the pattern is incredibly simple and malleable if you know what you’re doing regarding switching hooks/yarn weights and adjusting. This pattern is written so loose as it is intended to be a lightweight baby blanket for summer use.
