August 2017: The pattern PDF available through Raverly has been updated to include all measurements in metric units as well as Imperial. Accompanying posts on my blog (linked in the pattern) provide extensive directions on maintaining stitch patterns while shaping the sweater, and customizing sizing. A full schematic is shown in the final image to the left. Because this pattern was off-line most of this year, it will be available at a 25% discount through August 11, 2017 (discount applied automatically).

Named after a music style popularized in the Romantic era, this sweater is inspired by the silk dresses of that period, which featured leg-of-mutton (or Gigot) sleeves and wide V-necks. Updated for modern lifestyle, this sweater features a relaxed fit (no need for corsets!), a V-neck that stays on the shoulders, and Gigot sleeves that won’t catch in doorways. Made in a worsted-weight wool, it will keep you warm in winter while still looking elegant. This sweater will be a dramatic centerpiece of any ensemble, and can be worn casually with jeans on weekends, with slacks for work days, or perhaps even with a full, floor-length taffeta skirt for a night out.
