Fall is my favorite season and Halloween my favorite holiday. So in homage I designed these socks that are not only the perfect jack-o-lantern socks but also done in something a bit spookier could make a stellar ghost. Then my mind started running, what if you made them green and they could be little aliens, the options are endless for these silly little faces! This is an advanced but also rewarding pattern that I could imagine knitting time and again to create all sorts of spirits.

Migration Yarn Co is a local hand dyed yarn company run by a dear friend. Linda’s beautifully crafted yarns are made with heart, benefiting organizations that bring awareness to the ongoing challenges faced by our fragile world.

This sock is knit from the toe up. I knit a toe up gusset and slip stitch heel flap. This is a style often associated with a top down sock so I wanted to share how I make this traditional heel in a toe up sock. Please feel free to use any other heel of your choice. I’m a huge fan of the fish lips kiss heel by Sox Therapist as well as the afterthought heel by Laura Linneman.
I knit my socks using magic loop. You could also use two circulars. If DPNs are your preferred method just know you will have to shift your stitches around to accommodate cables.
