Call it a neckwarmer, chestwarmer or chestcover…it can be all 3 at the same time.

First time I heard about Qiviut fiber, I wanted to try it as soon as possible. Not only because of it’s characteristics, but also for what the animal means to me. The musk ox lives in the Far North and this type of region has always had an appeal to me. I could only afford a small skein that is not 100% Qiviut and had to find a design that gives the most out of it:
using the complete yardage, giving me warmth and showing it to others. I didn’t want to go for a standard lace project, but rather needed something special to put on and off as I live up in the cold mountains and work in an overheated office in the plain. I thought about a lacy neck/chest-warmer while reading EZ’s dickey project and turned it into a glamorous garment. It takes no place in a handbag. This can be made in less warm fiber and wear it as a fashionable knitwear or to hide deep décolleté. Qufisiq means « neck » in Inupiaq language
