This hat came to fruition when it came time to knit my brother his yearly birthday hat/beanie. I have been knitting hats for him for many years, but this year, I created a pattern just for him. The beanie was born to be named Quinary. Quinary, meaning fifth, is very fitting as it is my fifth hat pattern I created, and my brother is the fifth child of my family.

Quinary is customizable in size/brims/fitted/slouchy and of course pompoms. The hat may seem like ‘just a ribbed hat’ but it is full of twists and stitch definition that will capture you from cast on to finish. It is NOT your every day ribbed beanie.

Black hat is knit with Knit Picks Andes del Campo which is no longer available.
The multicolored hat is hand dyed by me using Knit Picks Bare Worsted.

Stitches to know : Knit, Purl, Slip (with yarn in back) SSK (Slip, slip knit), CDD (Center Double Decrease), KTBL (Knit through the back loop) - all directions are given in the key at the end of the pattern.
