Meet our knit Raccoon. He’s cute, cuddly and very lovable. This pattern supplies directions for making our knit Raccoon.

This Raccoon is suitable for advanced beginner knitters and assumes an understanding of basic stitches and standard knitting terms. Our Raccoon is knit flat and sewn together using a mattress stitch.

If you’re new to knitting stuffed friends, or are uncomfortable winging it without strict guidelines (that’s OK, we all need good directions sometimes to help us out) you will need approximately 45m of light grey coloured yarn, 25m of black, 3m of dark grey and 5m of white medium weight yearn. With this yarn, use 4mm (US size 6) needles. You will also need a small amount of yarn for embroidering the face, stuffing (we use ecofil or wool) and a needle to sew your raccoon together. This will let you create a raccoon that’s approximately 14cm (5.5 inches) in length.

The beauty of knitting stuffed friends is that this pattern can be knit in any size yarn with accompanying needles. Generally we find using a size or two smaller needles than required by the yarn allows for the tightness needed when you’re stuffing your finished product.
