The gloves are worked flat on straight needles (or circulars, heck even DPNS if you are careful to not drop a stitch off the side) There is no seaming, the buttons do all the work to hold them closed. The ribbing is continued up the sides of the gloves to help combat rolling edges. The first stitch of each row is also slipped to give it a cleaner look. All of these “fancy” accoutrements can be excused if they get confusing. Just knit the cuff in rib, then everything else in stockinette. The chunkier the yarn and the larger the buttons the more fun these gloves are.
To get a better fitting glove, measure the width of your hand above your thumb. Use gauge to help determine the right stitch count.
All cast off stitches (buttonholes and thumb hole) are standard cast off : Knit 2sts, pass the first stitch over the second stitch and drop it off the end of the needle.
