The Really Simple Chunky Cowl was designed with beginning knitters in mind.
Instructions clearly explain each step of the construction of this reversible cowl.

Materials include 1 skein of Berroco Vintage Chunky yarn, and size 10.5 needles.

Recommended gauge is 3.5 sts = 1” in garter stitch, before blocking.
Exact gauge isn’t critical, since this is a cowl.
It will, however, affect the finished size and amount of yarn used.
Change needle size as necessary, to achieve correct gauge.

Pattern combines beginner friendly garter stitch and an easy but interesting basketweave stitch.

This cowl is knit flat, then the cast on edge is joined to the bound off edge to create a cowl. You could easily make the cowl longer if desired, and it could be worn as a scarf (if you omit seaming the ends together).

Required skills include casting on, knitting, purling and binding off.
