Red Moon is knit in the round from the bottom up and begins with a provisional cast-on that will allow the brim to be folded and knit into a seamless hem. The double-thick brim allows the hat to stay in place without any ribbing, and both the brim and body of the hat can be easily modified to the length of your choice, so you can make it slouchier or closer-fitting as you prefer. The best part about this hat is that there are absolutely no purls!

One size fits most adult heads from 18-22” circumference.

Gauge swatch should be knit in the round.

Pattern calls for 1 skein each of 2 colors of yarn (MC and CC), though you could omit the stripes and knit the entire hat with 1 color if you prefer. You could also knit it with 3 colors. It’s so easy to modify!

Crochet hook is used only for the provisional cast-on, and you can use the cast-on of your choice as long as it gets you where you need to be. Pattern calls for a 16” circular needle and DPNs. A second 16” US size 2 circular needle is optional, though DPNs will work just fine.
