Inspired by Lily Chin’s method of making reversible cables, this simple pattern results in an elegant scarf that can be draped long or wrapped a second time around the neck to keep out the winter chill. The soft, squishy feel of the fabric contrasts nicely with the boldness of the large cable, with no distracting border. The length of the scarf can be altered by omitting or adding repeats of the cable pattern.

The ends of this scarf can be joined by either binding off and sewing the bound off end to the cast-on end, or by using a provisional cast-on and grafting the live cast-on stitches to the last row of working stitches.

At this gauge and length, this scarf required approximately 294 yds.
