Simple and quick knit hat to make for an upcoming chilly day. It can be made in 1 day, if you are a quick knitter, or a couple days if your a little slower. The Band is longer to help keep it on the head and add extra warmth around the ears.
This hat can be worn two way. Either right side out or inside out. Its made with an uneven about of rib stitches, this gives the hat a different look when worn inside out.
Warm and snuggle when made with a yarn that has wool in it. I like Plymouth Encore. It as 25% wool and is machine washable and dry-able and warm too. Made on a 16” circular Needle size 9 plus a set of Double Point Needles to finish off the top. The decrease is subtle so you don’t see where the decreases are when looking at it. It takes 1 skein/ball of yarn. Usually around 100 to 150 yards depending on the size of head you are making it for.
It can be made for Teens, Ladies and Men size heads. You can make it smaller if you like by decreasing the cast on by 6 stitches and if you have a husband like mine with a bigger head you can add 6 more stitches. Since it’s a rib, it stretches and fit many head sizes.
