Simple, top-down ribbed hat that can be made as a beanie, or with a fold-up brim. Either style can be made in single or extra warm double thickness.

Men appreciate the simple “no frills” style, and anyone would love how this hat hugs your head so comfortably! Double-thick, it can keep your head warm even through the coldest winter evenings!

Stitches Used:
K, P, ssk, K2tog, P2tog, K2tog tbl, Kfb, Kbf, Pfb, M1R, M1L, and variations on K/P as described in the pattern

Materials:

  • worsted weight yarn, about 88 – 300 yards (depending on which hat you make)
  • size US 8 (5.00mm) circular needles or DPNs
  • stitch markers

TIP: When making the doubled brim hat, if you change colours at the halfway point, you can have a reversible hat with contrasting brim either way you wear it! Thanks to Gerdien for the idea. :-)
