Inspired by fringed gloves seen at the annual craft market in Riga, Latvia, these gloves feature knitted-in Latvian Fringe, a twisted braid, and a traditional color work motif.

Difficulty = Advanced. Knitters should be comfortable knitting in the round on double pointed needles, working fair isle style using both left and right handed knitting, and reading knitting charts. The pattern includes instructions on how to knit the fringe and twisted braid.

A note about the gauge: Size 2 US (2.75mm) double points were used throughout, but the gauge actually varies slightly depending on which stitch/section of the glove you are knitting. The fringe and plain stockinette are slightly looser than the stranded color work section, resulting in a slight flare at the cuff. If you knit color work tightly, you may find you want to move up one needle size just for the color work section.

Yardage Note: Requires approx. 140-150 yards main color and 60 -70 yards of contrast color.
