In the tradition of Fellowship! the Shawl, here comes another half-circle shawl inspired by J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings, this time following the character progression and journey of a single member of that fellowship, Frodo Baggins.

There will be eight separate clues, to be released throughout the month of September. The first clue is available now, to give you a taste of what’s to come. Each clue will have descriptive tie-ins that trace my inspiration from story to stitches. The knit-a-long part will be conducted in this thread in the Lord of the Rings group.

It would behoove you to have a least some previous lacework experience, but it isn’t necessary. There are two options for the shawl border: one is more traditional and accessible to beginners and the other is somewhat innovative and advanced.

Please note: this pattern is not fully written out; you will need to be able to read charts in order to complete the shawl.
