The golden Sun is nearing the denouement of her journey across the sky, just as this last company is about to begin theirs. One by one, they step onto the deck of the elegant ship, each additional burden hardly making it dip into the crystal-blue water. With final goodbyes, the last of the passengers comes aboard, ready at last to be moving on, into the West.

This mystery knit-along is for a triangle shawl inspired by Tolkien’s Middle-Earth, particularly the elves, their beloved sea, and Valinor, the realm to which they returned after the ending of the Third Age. The MKAL will have four clues, to be released through the month of January. Each clue will come with my signature tie-in and storytelling, which is my personal favorite part of designing fandom-based knits.

The yarn used is Tale and Tendril’s gorgeous Mallorn base in two colorways: Galadriel’s Mirror and Lady of the Golden Wood. You can, of course, use any colors you want, though I would advise two solid or semisolid colorways, as variegated yarn will tend to hide the later lace portions.

The Knit-a-long will be held in the Lord of the Rings group, in this thread: http://www.ravelry.com/discuss/lord-of-the-rings/topics/3...
