The River Tay Baby Blanket is a beautiful striped lace and textured baby blanket inspired by the movement and shapes of the River Tay in Scotland where the designer lives.

This wrap uses 345m (375 yards) of worsted weight yarn.

The pattern includes charts for the lace and texture detail. The lace and texture work involves stitches:

  • knit / purl
  • yarn over
  • k2tog / p2tog
  • ssk
  • knit through back loop

The finished size after blocking is width 16” (40.5cm) and length 29” (73.5cm). The blanket can be made narrower or wider by completing less or more repeats of the stitch charts.

The photographed sample was knit with 5mm (8US) (straight or circular needles) and 345m (375 yards) = 5 balls of Shine, Knitpicks (60% Pima Cotton; 40% Modal, worsted weight), 50 grams / 69 meters (75 yards), balls in:
o 1 Sailor (Colour A)
o 1 Reef (Colour B)
o 1 Clarity (Colour C)
o 1 Sky (Colour D)
o 1 Pistachio (Colour E)
However, there are many other wonderful colours.
