Want a ‘go to’ toe-up sock with a well-fitting gusset (with no holes or gaps) and heel-flap that you can make your own? Here’s a roadmap for you. Make it plain, add texture or color or let self-striping yarn do the work for you. See where the sock road takes you!

Most toe-up socks do not have a heel gusset or heel flap. This one does and has instructions for either a slip-stitch heel or eye or the patridge heel.

The pattern is written in three standard sizes but feel free to adapt for your perfect fit. As they are toe-up you can try them on as you go.

Also included are suggestions for textured stitch patterns and ideas on how to make it your own. Do whatever strikes your fancy. It’s a roadmap and YOU are driving!

Errata: Nov 2020 - typo in size S heel extension should be M1, not M2; correction to size M heel flap instructions. Pattern has been updated to V3.

January 2024: First line of toe increase should read:
Round 1:  k1, kfb, K to 2 stitches before end of top of foot, kfb k1
