This pattern is for the mice, the removeable royal outfits, and the opening castle including a rug, blanket, pillow, portrait and chandelier!

The pattern contains lots of photos to help you every step of the way. It is written in English, using American crochet terms. All of my patterns have been independently tested prior to publication.

You will need:

Yarn of your choice. Yarn weight doesn’t really matter - the size of your project will simply turn out bigger or smaller! I used Stylecraft Special aran weight yarn and my finished castle measures approximately 18cm wide (including the balcony) and 30cm tall (including the flag pole).
Please ensure that you use the same weight yarn throughout your project to ensure that the pieces will fit together.

For the mouse you will need the following colours:

  • Main mouse colour - I used pale grey (approx. 23.5m).
  • Nose / ears / feet / tail colour - I used pale pink (approx. 13m).

For the castle you will need the following colours:

  • Light grey (for the main wall approx. 363m).
  • Dark grey (for the floors / roof approx. 149m).
  • Dark brown (for the drawbridge approx. 28m).
  • Red (for the flag approx. 4m).
  • Green (for the vine (approx. 11m).

For the castle furnishings, clothes and accessories you will need the following colours:

  • Black (for the king’s trousers & jacket / queen’s handbag approx. 28m).
  • Gold (for the king’s trousers & jacket / crown/ chandelier / portrait frame approx. 18m).
  • Purple (for the king’s robes / crown / castle rug / portrait approx. 24m).
  • White (for the king’s robes / crown / bedding approx. 45m).
  • Green (for the king’s sash approx. 3m).
  • Cream (for the queen’s dress approx. 19m).
  • Dark Blue (for the queen’s sash approx. 3m).
  • Lilac (for the portrait approx. 1.5m).
  • Light grey (for the portrait approx. 1.5m).
  • Yellow (for the cheese approx. 2m).

PLEASE NOTE = The amount of yarn used will vary according to yarn weight, hook size and stitch tension so these measurements are only a rough guide. The pattern refers to the colours that I used, however these can be substituted for colours of your choice.

You will also need:

  • A suitable size hook for the yarn you have chosen - I used a 4mm hook.
  • 2 pairs of 6mm black safety eyes.
  • Some toy stuffing.
  • Some finer yarn or thread in black & light pink, for adding details to the faces and the portrait.
  • A few sequins for the crown and chandelier.
  • ‘7 count’ plastic canvas. I had a 26cm x 33cm sheet (that’s 10.25 x 13.5 inches) & I used 2 and a half sheets. A higher count (that’s the number of holes per inch) will mean the plastic is more bendy so stick to 7 count if possible.
  • 2 small black buttons for the king’s clothes (and a needle and thread with which to attach them). I used buttons that were 12mm in diameter for this.
  • 2 medium dark grey buttons for the castle (and a needle and thread with which to attach them). I used buttons that were 20mm in diameter for this. Other tools you will need are a tapestry needle, some scissors and some stitch markers.

You are welcome to sell the items that you make using this pattern, but please do not sell / share the pattern itself.
Thank you.
