Rusalka is a mermaid of Slavic myths. The stitch I used to make this cowl reminds me of long, wavy and lush water-nymph’s hair which is why I gave it this name.

The pattern is written using American crochet terms.

Skill Level:

Easy to intermediate. In fact, you are likely to find it a very easy project once you get the hang of slip stitch crochet.

Materials and Tools:

  • 200 - 300 g (7.50 - 10.58 oz) / 600 - 700 yd (550 - 640 m) of worsted weight/aran yarn (CYCA category 4)
  • Crochet hook size J (6 mm) or hook needed to achieve gauge
  • Yarn needle for weaving in ends

Finished Sizes (Width and length can be customized):

  • Small (S): 16” (40 cm) length, 26” (65 cm) top circumference and 40” (100 cm) bottom circumference
  • Medium (M): 17” (42.5 cm) length, 29” (72.5 cm) top circumference and 44” (110 cm) bottom circumference
