This pattern is very dear to my heart. I have designed it to remind me of happy family holidays up in Scotland. Every summer since our daughter was born we have made a pilgrimage back up north to spent several weeks travelling around. At its centre is a map with our routes marked out.

To design this blanket I used Stitch Fiddle, a great tool for making charts. A few years ago I really enjoyed making Ahooka’s amazing Star Wars blanket and so the squares are also 30 by 30 stitches.

This is a great stash buster as you can change a lot of the colours to use up what you have. If you want to make the map you might have to invest in some sea blue and green, but again that wouldn’t have to all be the same colour. I also bought extra black as I did all my borders with it.
