Here I used a self-striping shaded color yarn; I like the color flow and that each end of the scarf looks different. But this scarf is pretty simple and thus easy to change to fit your style. A solid color yarn may work well; or you could attach two or three contrasting color buttons, continue working and make a longer scarf without buttons, or work a larger or longer ruffled edging.
