The advent season is drawing near, and it’s a season to share. My advent shawls and socks patterns are now on sale until December 10th- use the coupon code Seasontoshare to get E2,20 off.

This Season of Joy Shawl is the third year of Advent Mystery Shawl designs for me. After a season of Serenity and Gratitude, I now want to complete the set with Joy.

Knitting in general makes me happy, it’s what I do as much as I can, because it gives me so much joy. Working with yarn, whether it’s handspun or dyed by Het Wolbeest, is never boring. I hope that this design will bring you joy while knitting, and more so when wearing your finished shawl.

The Season of Joy Shawl is a design I knit up many years ago using bits and bobs of handspun yarn. It’s been on my list of things to work out on paper for a long time, I always thought of it as a “leftovers” shawl. But now, finally, here is a pattern with cables and lace. I won’t spoil the surprise though with more details.
Although, if you have knit the Serenity and Gratitude Shawls, then you will probably have an idea of what is coming!

This year the Mystery shawl knit-a-long will be published slightly differently than previous years. I will be updating the pattern every 3rd day instead of each day, so you will receive 3 sections each time. It’s up to you to work out only one section a day or knit as much as you can when you have the time for it. At least I know that’s what happens here, I often have spurts of time, but not the same amounts each day.

You can read through the whole section, or not, and then make a choice how to work your colours, or not, of course.
So to be completely clear, the updates will be done the evening before (or the morning of) the following dates (AMS time): December 1, 4, 7, 10, 13, 16, 19, and 22.

There are a few challenging days but don’t let that scare you away. I’ve even made some videos to demonstrate some of the stitches. The pattern has been tested by my wonderful friends but do contact me if you have any questions.

Here is the video for day 23 - possibly the most challenging day of the shawl
