Secretive Mittens were originally designed as photography mittens for my mother. I wanted to knit a pair of very basic mittens, but keep the knitting process interesting by including a few twists and turns: these mittens are knitted top down, and the thumb gusset has a new shape. The fit in these mittens is slim to keep them in their place also when the flap is turned down. The edges of the opening are finished with seed stitch and cuff is folded.
You also get to download a chart for asymmetrical hearts as a separate pdf-file. The hearts are shown in the 5th photo, and can be emroidered to finished mittens.

Sizing: two adult/teen sizes, women’s (men’s)
Finished circumreference above the thumb: 18,5 (23) cm = 7 1/4 (9) inches

Materials: Approximately 50 g (~205 yards) fingering weight wool or wool blend yarn. Sample was made with Novita Pikkusisko in dark grey 048 and for example Drops Alpaca works as well.

Skill level: Intermediate. The pattern includes knitting in round (written for DPN’s), bind off/cast on in the middle of the round, KFB, K2tog, SSK, Judy’s magic cast on, EZ’s sewn bid off. Thumb gusset instructions only charted.
