This is a pattern for a shawl that features two stitches that come to us from The Shetland Islands. The edging stitch is attached in the traditional Shetland manner. Both stitches are interesting and fun to knit. Together they make a beautiful shawl. Lace knitters will enjoy making this shawl and love showing it off while wearing it. The drape of this particular yarn is fantastic, and is hard to photograph.

Skill Level: Intermediate (assuming a basic knowledge of lace knitting).

The two stitches are both charted and written out line by line.

The wrap was expertly pattern tested by Barbara Robertson, who can be contacted at: Barb. Robertson@gmail.com. The yarn used in the sample is Lorna’s Laces Soulmate, in colorway, Grasshopper and requires approximately three skeins to knit on a size U.S. #5 (3.75mm) needle.
