The Shushcush Star is not designed to take a cushion pad, it is devised to hide your yarn stash. Fill the pillow with yarn, unfinished projects that you can’t bear to look at anymore.. or your little ones’ Pjs.
The Shushcush Star is made in one piece, in the round and is entirely seamless, which, I know for many - me being one - is quite a bonus.
The pattern is written to be ‘as you like it’, examples are quoted but the size of the cushion and choice of yarn is up to you.
The pattern has been tested from chunky yarn on 6mm circular needles - Mega chunky yarn on 15mm circular needles.

Yarn
You will need approx 200 -300g of chunky / super chunky yarn.
If you don’t have chunky/super chunky yarn to hand, why not mix up some stash yarn and make your own?

I end of variegated yarn and one end of plain colour yarn, held together, looks good. Scraps can be put to good use in making Shushcush Stars, random stripes work well with this pattern and accent the star shape.
1 end of chunky yarn and one end of aran weight yarn held together - use 12mm needles.
2 ends of aran weight yarn held together works well - use10mm needles.
1 end of chunky yarn - use 6mm needles
Mega Bulky Yarn
A separate version of the pattern is included, written specifically for Mega Bulky yarn, such as, Bernat Pop Bulky, you will need 15mm circular needles and 2 x 280g balls of yarn.

The pattern assumes knowledge of working in the round and does not contain instructions of how many sts to carry on each needle. Should you decide to use dpns, the pattern assumes that you will know when to change from dpns to a circular system.
A circular knitting system with a flexible cable, suitable for magic loop, of a gauge that corresponds with your chosen yarn, approx 80cm long, including needles, is adequate to use throughout.
Alternatively, a set of Dpns of a gauge that corresponds with your chosen yarn and a matching circular knitting system.
Stitch markers - Two types - 6 to carry on the needles and 6 to attach to the project. I use hair elastics on the needles and scraps of yarn attached to the project.Darning needle and Scissors
A crochet hook of a gauge suitable to make a crochet chain drawstring approx 24”/60cm long.
To make the fun fur pompoms you will need approx 50g of fun fur yarn, such as King Cole Tufty/ or similar.
