Sideways Dude - a fun, unisex design - is the first pattern in the Sideways Set ebook.

It is a quick, baby knit and sized for toddlers as well. The unusual construction and the mix of garter and stockinette should make for a stimulating knit that results in a cosy, textured and classic cardigan.

Tip 1: This cardigan is a great unisex gift for new babies. Knit it ahead of time in a neutral colour and make buttonholes on both sides. When the baby is born, sew the buttons onto the left for a girl, the right for a boy, and AT THE SAME TIME sew the obsolete buttonholes closed.

Tip 2: For a matching hat, try the free Rainbow Ridge Beanie. Originally designed as a scrap buster, it also works beautifully in a solid colour. The garter ridges on the hat reflect the texture on the cardigan.
