Silver Moth by Sylvia Cosh

Silver Moth

A short, swirling cape that echoes both the shape and the delicate coloring of a silver butterfly or moth. The four wing shapes are worked separately, joined, then bordered by an edging that contributes to the idea of continuous movement and an elusive shape. Fine lurex threads highlight the soft, fragile colors of the main yarns, and ensure the cape is the perfect complement to elegant evening-wear.

13 yarns are called for in shades of gray, sand, cream, silver, pale gold, gold, silver, cream, and pale gold.

The cape is made in 8 pieces - 2 back and 2 front upper wings, worked from the neck outward, and 2 back and 2 front lower wings, worked out from body. Change yarns every row, alternating the mohair and fancy yarns.
