A wavy little beanie I designed to take advantage of my hand-dyed gradient yarn. The pattern is based on feather and fan, but reminds me of sine waves. Whether you love mathematics or just want a warm, colourful head, this beanie is for you!

The pattern includes alternate sine wave patterns to deal with the inconsistencies of gradient yarn. The single ridge version works best with California, as you generally only get two or three rounds in each colour. The no ridge version gives an almost plain beanie, but it has a mischevious swirl. The lacy beanie is lighter and is suitable if the beanie is more for display than warmth. Lastly there is an alternate, longer crown rather than the shorter spoked crown.

Finish the hat with a pompom or tassel for fun.

Although California is listed as 8ply, it is quite thick and works up like a 10ply/worsted yarn.
