While traveling in Iceland, I saw a collection of beautiful felted hats. I loved the flat tops, shirred sides, and rich vibrant colors.

The Slouchy Chapeaux is my attempt to recreate the feel of these hats with crochet. Chapeaux (French for hat) seemed the proper name for this chic and elegant topper. The ties are simply woven through the stitches with surface designs creating a faux-channel. And who doesn’t love tassels?

While only one size is included, it can easily be made larger or smaller by changing the crown size and the ease of the brim.

This is a fairly simple hat with some surface design that brings it to an intermediate level of difficulty.

Enjoy creating your own Slouchy Chapeaux.
