When I made this scarf, I used Red Heart yarn. It was merely a test run and needed to be cheap. The edges of this scarf will roll if you use acrylic. You need to use natural fibers that can be blocked. Cascade 220 Wool is a good option, but there are many others.

Many knitters have converted this to a dishcloth pattern as well. In these cases, cotton is a good choice. One option is Lily Sugar ‘n Cream. Ombres and prints could be used as the background yarn.
