Skiers race downhill through the pines in celebration of the 2014 Winter Games in Sochi Russia. This is a classic stranded color work mitten inspired by a vintage design from an out of print pamphlet by Rose Anderson. I have revised the chart, updated and simplified the instructions and given the mittens a roomier more modern fit. Full instructions and charts for right, and left hand and thumb are included.

Use two contrasting colors of a worsted weight yarn. I used Cascade 220 and 2 skeins was enough for a pair knit at a gauge of 6 1/2 stitches per inch on size 5 DPNs. Finished size is 8 1/2 inches around which should fit an average adult hand.

I used and icy blue and deep pine for my sample but they would look great in Your Team’s colors!

Special note- there are several rows with long color runs - you should be comfortable with stranding and weaving techniques to enjoy knitting these mittens.
