“Sollicitude” is knit flat then, leaving the stitches on both ends of the piece live, blocked. Stitches are picked up on one long-side and closed up to fold the piece, and a small I-Cord loop is created. A length of I-cord is made and then strung through the live stitches, through the I-Cord loop and tied, creating the hat!

“Sollicitude” is French for “concern”. One of my greatest passions (concerns) is to support and speak with and for people with disAbilities. My goal is to try and make some difference through my design work. Therefore, 50% of all proceeds made from selling this pattern will be donated to an organisation close to my heart - International China Concern (ICC). When you purchase this pattern, there is a file you can download to read a little more about why I am supporting this organisation.

Please visit their website: International China Concern for more information, and to make donations. Even if you do not buy this pattern, I hope you will spread the word about ICC and if possible, support them by directly donating to them, or even joining a team to visit and volunteer!

This hat (or beanie, if you like) is suitable for boys, girls, ladies or gents, and you can choose to use just one main colour, or up to 4 colours (main colour and 3 contrasting zigzags), so you can make one for every member of the family!
