This is not a full pattern; it is a guide only and suitable for adding as borders to your own hat pattern. Experience of adapting patterns is advised.

Approx sizes: Adult Extra Small (Small, Medium, Large)

DK Yarns as shown: You can use the charts given
and fit the first border into 4 sizes approx 6 (7, 8, 9) times with DK and gauge given.

Substitute Aran Yarns:You could also use Aran or
worsted yarns and repeat the chart 5 (6, 7, 8) times
for 4 sizes depending on your gauge.

You will then need to adjust stitch numbers for
including other charts, either by decreasing or
increasing to achieve the nearest stitch numbers to fit both chart repeats and your size.

See also JPEG on the left for an alternative Flames version with split shade flames for 2 colour knitting.

The hem is knitted down from provisional cast on and folded over on a purl row, but it could be made as a picot edge too. Both can be folded over and knitted up as you go.

To make a picot edge hem: K2tog, YO around.
