SPIDEY TOY KNITTING PATTERNS
Eeek! There is a spider in the bath!
This knitted spider also makes a super Halloween decoration.
THE PATTERN INCLUDES: Row row numbers for each step so you don’t lose your place, instructions for making the spider, 7 photos, a list of abbreviations and materials. The pattern is 3 pages and written in English.
TECHNIQUES: All pieces are knitted flat (back and forth) on a pair of straight knitting needles, apart from the legs which are i-cord pieces knitted on two DPNs. You will need to cast on, knit, purl, increase and decrease, knit i-cord, and sew a seam.
To make my spider with bendy legs I used pipe cleaners (chenille stems) that were inserted into the i-cord legs, but you could make a spider with dangly legs instead if you don’t have any pipe cleaners in your craft box. And if you do use pipe cleaners, as the ends can be sharp the spider would not be suitable for babies or young children.
YARN, NEEDLES & NOTIONS INCLUDE:
- A pair of straight 3.5mm knitting needles (US 4)
- Two 3.5mm DPNs (US 4)
- Double knitting yarn (DK or light worsted weight) in black
- Small buttons for eyes
- Pipe cleaners (chenille stems) to strengthen the legs
