Spiraling Stripes Hats
A big chunk of sales will be donated to an organization doing good somewhere in the world—click to my designer page (Lee Meredith at the top of this page) to find details about where current sales will be going.
This is a pattern set with 6 different versions. There’s the wide straight brim, the slanting brim, and no brim, each with a clockwise spiral and counter-clockwise spiral pattern.
You can use any self-striping yarn, or stripe between 2 or more solids. There are tons of variations in the pdf with yarn ideas, and slouching/beret style versions, made with simple pattern modifications.
These hats are a fun way to play with short-rows on a small scale; great for beginner knitters wanting to try something a little more complex!
Size: adult medium-ish, with slouchy/larger variations
Yarn: around 90 yards of worsted to aran weight, more for the beret styles
Needles: pair of size US 9 straights or sized to get 4.5 stitches/inch
Skills needed: short rows, increases + decreases, provisional cast-on, 3-needle bind-off (all technique instructions are included in the pattern)
