At times I love knitting entrelac. But I did not like the fact the squares always ‘stand on their tips’. This cowl has an unusual entrelac construction, with invisible seaming. The cowl is the second Squaries pattern, after the Squaries Mitts.
You can finish the cowl by just blocking it, add a ribbing or line it.
This pattern is not recommended as first entrelac project - but some of my dear testknitters said, that my phototutorial is perfect for beginners.

This pattern will give you

• an introduction in the construction of the mitts;
• many tips and detailed instructions to most of the steps;
• a schematic overview for both sizes to keep track of you work;
• some suggestions for optional modifications like making the cowl longer or shorter, options for lining or ribs and so on;
• an illustrated instruction for a invisible join.

Materials:

• a circular needle 4,00 – 5,00 mm / US 6 – US 8 (the size you normally use for DK weight yarn)
• a second circular needle in the same size
• a crochet hook about 3,00 – 4,00 mm / US 2.5 – 6 US (for the join)
• 100g - 150g / 3.5 oz – 5.3 oz (or 200m – 350m / 218yds- 383yds) DK weight yarn with colour gradient. Another possibility could be using different colours for each row of squares. I strongly recommend to choose a well twisted yarn that will not split as you knit. (The linedversion needs a bit moore than 150g/ 5.3 oz.)
• some waste yarn (preferably smooth) for the provisional cast on

(small) gauge
A square should be about 11 stitches x 22 rows = 5 cm x 7 cm / 2 in x 2.8in. You should be near that
gauge so the cowl won’t get to wide or narrow. You should be ok if you choose the needles size you
normally use for DK weight yarn.

Measurement
The circumference of the cowl is about 60 cm / 24 in. If you would like to have more or less
circumference, please check the options. The height is about 23cm / 9 in.

Ich stricke immer wieder gerne Entrelac. Allerdings fand ich es irgendwie schade, dass die Quadrate immer ‘auf der Spitze’ stehen. Dieser Cowl basiert auf einer ungewöhnlichen Entrelac-Konstruktion, die durch eine unsichtbare ‘Naht’ zusammengefügt wird. Der Cowl ist das zweite Stück, der Squaries-Serie und passt zu den Squaries Mitts. Der Cowl kann einfach in Form gespannt werden, mit einem Rippenbündchen beendet werden oder mit einer hübschen Innenseite gefüttert werden.

Diese Anleitung ist nicht unbedingt als erstes Entrelac-Projekt geeignet, obwohl viele meine lieben Teststrickerinnen, meine Erklärungen und Bilder sehr anfängergeeignet finden.

Ihr bekommt in dieser Anleitung

• eine bebilderte Schritt-für-Schritt-Anleitung zum Zusammenfügen, das eine unsichtbare ’Naht’ formt

Material:

• Rundstricknadel 4,00 – 5,00 mm (bzw. Nadelgröße mit der man normalerweise auf eine Standard DK-Maschenprobe kommt also ca. 22Mx30R bzw. passend zum Garn)
• zweite Rundstricknadel der gleichen Größe
• Häkelnadel 3,00mm (mit einer 4,00 klappt es auch)
• 100g-200g Garn in DK-Stärke (oder auch 4ply), etwa 200-350m, mit langen Farbverläufen (oder verschiedene Farben des gleichen Garns, so dass jede Quadrat-Reihe in einer anderen Farbe gearbeitet werden kann)
• etwas (möglichst glattes) Garn in der gleichen Stärke für provisorischen Anschlag (Hilfsgarn)

k(l)eine Maschenprobe ; )
Ein Quadrat 11M x 22R sollte ca. 5cm x 7cm messen. (Es muss ungefähr stimmen, damit die Gesamtweite des Cowls weder zu weit noch zu eng wird.)

Größe
Der Umfang beträgt ca. 60 cm. Wer mehr oder weniger Umfang möchte bekommt unter Optionen Hinweise dazu. Die Höhe beträgt etwa 23cm.
