The name of this pattern reflects just 2 of the things I love about this shawl - the squish factor and the fact that the stitch makes the yarn work up to look like it did in the original skein.

  • The shawl was a spin-off from the 2021 Speed Challenge - I loved the squishy texture so much that I kept experimenting with it - and then as testing progressed, I also realised that what had happened with my first one wasn’t just a fluke.

  • not only do you get fabulous reversible texture, but the yarn was knitting up very much the way it looked in the skein - which made me very happy. I find that often the characteristics of a skein that made us want to buy it in the first place can somehow get lost once we start working with it, but that wasn’t happening with this stitch.

Other fun bonuses were that you can get a really wearable shape with just 2 skeins of aran (making it more budget-friendly)

It’s also totally reversible - with 2 very different, but equally attractive sides.

I hope you’ll enjoy making one as much as I did.
