The repeating pattern of concentric squares and the interplay of colours in this cozy cowl are inspired by the mesmerizing geometric paintings of artist Frank Stella.
There are two options for this cowl, each reflecting a key aspect of Stella’s work. Version one, Form, is knit in a fingering weight yarn for light weight warmth, and uses five different coloured skeins to create crisp colour changes and strong visual contrast. Version two, Colour, uses gradient spun or self striping yarn in a worsted weight for a warmer finished product with striking but subtly blended colour changes. (From pattern notes)

Yarn Requirements:

• Fingering weight version - ‘Form’: 5 solid colours of fingering weight yarn; 100m (109 yd) of MC1 and MC2, and 45m (49 yd) of CC1, CC2, and CC3.

• Worsted weight version - ‘Colour’: 125m (137 yd) of MC; a gradient or striping worsted weight yarn such as Noro Kureyon or Knit Picks Chroma Worsted. 70m (77 yd) of CC; can either be a solid colour or a contrasting striping worsted weight yarn.

Gauge:

• Fingering weight version - ‘Form’: 28 sts and 32 rows = 10 cm/4 inches

• Worsted weight version - ‘Colour’: 22 sts and 22 rows = 10 cm/4 inches
