Things are up in the air right now. So many things are uncertain. It makes me (and no doubt, you) feel very unsettled.

But, we can still count on many amazing things, though; the sun will rise each morning, the stars will shine at night, our loved ones still love us, home is still our refuge. Knitting still sooths our souls. We should take solace in these truths. We still have much for which to be grateful.

So, for this new design I chose a beautiful, mood-lifting, rich teal from Madelinetosh “Tosh Sock” (fingering weight merino). I wanted something scrumptious to take me away for a while from the grind of this pandemic. Any fingering weight yarn will work.

The color is called Baltic. Many other solid or tonal colors would also look great. I added a few beads (Miyuki 421C) to contrast with the Baltic blue of the shawl and placed them in a stylized sunshine at the center of the shawl. You will need 1,230 6/0 beads. (You can leave out the beads, if you’d like. Just k the stitch without the bead.) The lace is charted on a large, easy to read chart with complete directions included for working from the chart. Written directions for the chart are included for those who don’t care to work from a chart!

The lace is fairly simple, you need to know how (or learn) to k, p, yo, k2tog, ssk, and k1tbl. All of these are detailed in the pattern. Full directions are included on how to add a bead with a crochet hook and how to work the wraps and turns. Don’t worry, NOT difficult. I am always available through email to answer any questions you may have.
