This sock is designed to utilize a handspun gradient yarn with a toe-up sock and heel “flap” pattern. I wanted a pattern that would manipulate the gradient in my yarn for a more visually interesting sock than if I were to knit it plain. The lace adds a lovely waving pattern to the foot and leg. This pattern would also work well for self-striping yarns.

Overall, the lace and yarn together reminds me of a sunset over sand dunes, hence the name.

I originally knit the 60-stitch sock, so the 64-stitch instructions are untested. I also included charts for more stitch counts, if you are keen on making larger socks with your own construction pattern. I wasn’t originally going to share the pattern, but then I figured, “why not?”, just in case anybody wants to knit these socks.
