Update 12.03.2019 GOOD NEWS!!! My website is up again and so is the calculator!!

Update 30.08.2013: The PDF version can now be downloaded through this page. You still need to visit my website to use the calculator. All the videos are now available on my Youtube channel.

This calculator is intended for the specific purpose of building your own toe-up, short-row heel, two at a time sock pattern. You input your own measurements or choose one of the pre-filled measurements and as you type the calculator will tell you how many stitches to cast-on using Judy’s Magic cast-on for toe-up socks. It will tell you how many stitches to increase to. It will tell you how long a piece to knit (in either cm or inches) before you turn the heel and finally it will tell you how many short-rows you must do for the heel.

The instructions are available in two versions: The online instructions and the PDF instructions. For the PDF instructions you must print the PDF and input your calculations in the marked fields.

You can also change the gauge to fit the yarn and needles you are using. It is pre-filled with 26 stitches per 10cm/4”, which is my gauge for KPPPM yarn and 3mm needles.

The video instructions will take you through the calculator and the different steps of knitting the socks.

  1. using the calculator
  2. starting at the toe
  3. turning the heal
  4. finishing off

This calculator has been tested several times by myself for children’s socks and dolls socks.

The calculator is made available for free and if it is not working for you - please give me some nice feedback and I will do what I can to adjust the calculator or make better instructions.

If you want to use this calculator as a designer you are more than welcome to. I would of course love if you would reference it and help spread the word. Also, come over and tell me about your design so I can see what you are making.
